10 Ways to Jump-Start Your 2019 Workout Routine

It’s no secret that America’s favorite New Year’s resolution is to lose weight. So many of us start strong and then our motivation starts to decline. I’ve put together 10 of the best ways to help jump-start your 2019 workout routines!

Morning Workouts

It sounds cliché, but try a morning workout! Morning workouts have changed my life. They have put me in a better mood, help me sleep better and I’m more active. After my morning workout, I have the urge to be more productive. Morning workouts also increase your immunity and longevity!

Balance Your Meals

You don’t have to change your entire diet to be healthy. However, you do need to eat more balanced meals. Eating healthy will give your body nutrients that it needs. Without good nutrition, you are more prone to disease, fatigue and poor performance. Eating or drinking something healthy before a workout also helps you stay active and alert during your gym session.

Drink Detox Water

Speaking of drinking something healthy, detox water has an abundance of benefits. Drinking detox water will literally flush toxins out of your body! I usually add lemon, lime and mint to my detox water! Not only does it offer a refreshing taste but it really does the trick! It gives my skin the glow it needs and it makes drinking water a lot more enjoyable.

Use A Smaller Plate

Use a smaller plate whenever you eat to help you control your portion sizes. This will help reduce your consumption. Also, when out at a restaurant, order a smaller meal than you usually would. The more you order, the more you’ll eat. I try to complete my meal at the restaurant. If I bring home leftovers, I will definitely eat them!

Get Enough Sleep

I can’t stress this tip enough. Sleeping is the root of everything we do. Get enough sleep so that you’ll have time to do a morning workout or to make your detox water. Without enough sleep, you won’t feel up to par to do anything of the things I’ve listed above. When we get enough sleep, we feel like a brand new person. Did you know that when you’re sleeping, your body burns calories? So make sure you’re getting your 8 hours of sleep and let your body do the work for you!

Don’t Let Travel Stop Your Workout Routine

Most of the time we go on vacation to take a break from many things that we do regularly, but working out and eating healthy doesn’t have to be one of those. Pack fitness gear with you! There’s plenty of times where we don’t have anything to do until dinner or until our next adventure starts. This is the perfect time to do some cardio or even stretch out your kinks from walking all day. Most hotels we book have gyms in them. Do you realize how many people don’t use this amenity? You’re already paying for it and it’s. right. there! Usually they’re small, so go in for about 20 minutes and knock out a workout!

Go Walking

Go for a walk. It sounds extremely simple, but that’s because it is! My mom lost major pounds one summer from just walking in our neighborhood. She did it every day for about 3 months and lost so much weight! Walking is so good for the body. Many people say they walk every where anyway and still don’t see results. Consistency is key! Keep it up and watch as the pounds start trickling down. Instead of driving your car to your nearest gas station, walk! You’ll be getting a workout in AND saving gas money!

YouTube has so many great workout videos that will help you during your fitness journey. There is so many different videos that target whichever workout you’re looking for. I let my mood choose which workout I do for the day. When I’m feeling pumped and ready to go, I usually pick a fast-paced workout. If I have a minor headache and just not feeling it, I’ll do a 20 minute workout rather than an hour one. YouTube has it all.. and it’s FREE!

De-stress Yourself

De-stress by de-cluttering. You can’t give yourself your full potential if you’re not in the mood to workout or to eat healthy. Sometimes we get into a funk where we don’t want to meal prep or we don’t want to do a morning workout. Taking a social media break is one of the best ways I’ve found to de-clutter. It’s refreshing and it will keep you focused. That’s why it’s so important to de-stress your life and keep your eye on the prize (summer bod 2019). When you feel better mentally, you’ll feel better physically. After all, the goal of working out and eating healthier is to make us feel better mentally and physically.

Reinvent Date Night

Instead of you and your significant other going out to eat at a fancy restaurant and getting dessert after, why not plan an active date night? What about a fun dance lesson for the two of you? Not only are you staying active, but you’re laughing while doing it!
