You won’t believe how this ballpark in South Carolina is celebrating Derby Eve

Break out your derby hats and seersucker suits! Derby Eve at Pelicans ballpark is an event you don't want to miss!

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are known for their great family atmosphere and unique promotional nights.  It’s no surprise that they’ll be offering something extremely cool for Derby Eve at Pelicans Ballpark.

For the first time ever, they’ll have an actual horse race on the baseball field in between innings.  Yep, you read that right.  Fans are encouraged to wear their Derby best including dresses, derby hats, and seersuckers.  Assistant General Manager Kristin Call says you can expect the entire night to be themed around the Kentucky Derby complete with silks, specialty cocktails, unique photo ops, and all the fun!

We were so excited to sit down with her and one of the riders, a former jockey who just so happens to be apart of the game day staff.  We got all the details on what to expect!  The special night will take place on Derby Eve, Friday, May 3rd.  Game time is at 7:05, gates open an hour early.  For tickets, you can visit their website here or purchase at the gate.  Remember, every Friday at Pelicans Ballpark is also First Responder Friday with WMBF News.  First Responders can take advantage of half priced tickets!
