Croissants Bistro & Bakery, Myrtle Beach’s favorite low-country bistro, will host its 8th Annual 4th of July Cupcake Eating Contest & Festival on Thursday, July 4, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Marina Park at the Grande Dunes.
Competition participants, 18 years and older, are invited to “have their cake and eat it, too” during this cupcake eating marathon. The winner will be crowned, “2019 Cupcake Champion” of Myrtle Beach. Prize packages include a trophy, $500 cash and tickets to Myrtle Beach area attractions, restaurants, retail stores and more.
The festival will be held at Marina Park at Grande Dunes, located at 8201 Marina Parkway, on Thursday, July 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will feature local celebrity judges, carnival games, face painting, food trucks, and more. Contestants have five minutes to eat as many cupcakes as they can, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The event will be in conjunction with the Grande Dunes 4th of July golf cart parade, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Marina Park.
Admission is free for spectators. Contestant registration is $20 per person, and includes entry into the contest, a t-shirt and as many cupcakes as you can eat in 5 minutes! Contestants can register online at https://croissants.net/event/croissants-8th-annual-cupcake-eating-contest/.
In 2018, Mark Lyle devoured a total of 36 cupcakes, and was named Myrtle Beach’s “2018 Cupcake Champion” at the 7th Annual 4th of July Cupcake Eating Contest. Over 1,500 cupcakes were prepared and over 1,000 consumed.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Help 4 Kids and Backpack Buddies. Donations can be made at the event in the form of monetary or food donations. The following food items will be accepted: flavored instant oatmeal, canned pasta, Vienna sausage, pudding cups, peanut butter crackers, and ramen noodles.
